This is my re-imagination of the ending of the K-drama, "Genie, Make a Wish" [Spoiler Alert] I thought that Ki Ka Young returning as a genie was random and without explanation. Also, I felt that their stories ending as genies mean they repeat the same fate of servitude to different people, and Ka Young repeats Iblis' fate of having to bow to a human at some point. It leaves their story incomplete and repetitive. In my version, the both of them die as in the canon. But instead of returning as a genie, Ka Young is re- incarnated years later as Bae Su Ji, a woman who feels and expresses. The Genie returns but as a mere mortal, possessing none of his previous magical grandeur except for a playful wit and charm. Working as a journalist where he can continue dissecting human and their motives, he is now Kim Woo Bin who is haunted by strange dreams and a sense of deja vu. When they meet again, neither remembers the other but something in the air- the memories of desert sands and plum blossoms- stirs what was once lost.
