Scaramouche and the Traveler, Aether, are enemies bound by repeated conflict. She taunts and flirts with him openly, treating their encounters as cruel entertainment. Though they are occasionally forced to work together, their path always ends in battle-often with the intent to kill. Scaramouche is stronger, and she never lets him forget it.
Then Irminsul is rewritten.
Scaramouche erases herself and is reborn as the Wanderer, stripped of her past yet haunted by its absence. Though their hostility softens, she still resents Aether, believing his continued concern is nothing more than pity. She refuses it because she believes she deserves nothing else.
But Aether does not offer pity.
As he travels across Teyvat, he sends her letters-quiet updates, simple thoughts, never asking for forgiveness or closeness. She ignores them for a long time, until the day she chooses to reply.
From that moment, something changes.
Realizing that Aether's gestures are not obligation, but something deeply personal, the Wanderer panics. Unwilling to confront emotions she believes she does not deserve, she disappears choosing distance over vulnerability.
Her new journey takes her across Teyvat, where she meets many people drawn to her presence. Some offer friendship, others admiration, and some something more. Each connection challenges her belief that no one could truly care for her.
Yet the past she erased does not stay silent. The consequences of forgotten sins, lingering resentment, and unresolved pain follow her wherever she goes.
