Hana has been on the run for twelve years. The World Government wants her alive. So do bounty hunters, pirates, and dangerous people she doesn't fully understand. She never understood why, until she boards the wrong submarine and meets Trafalgar Law, the infamous Surgeon of Death and a warlord who is a mystery to her. Trafalgar Law did not get to where he is by trusting strangers. He got there by being more patient than them, more precise, and considerably harder to surprise. The woman his crew pulled from the harbor is being hunted by multiple factions simultaneously, carries herself like someone who has already planned four ways out of a room she just entered, and apparently cannot use her ability on him which she has already tried, more than once, and which interests him far more than he intends to show. What if the two of them have more in common than either of them realizes? What if the answers Hana has spent twelve years running from are buried in Law's past? What if the man Law has spent fourteen years mourning has more to what he left behind?
