We all started dying one day. It wasn't exactly sequential, but it somewhat aligned to age. First it was Anthony. He was twenty seven. Second was Isabella. She was nearing twenty five. Third was Ellis. He barely made it to nineteen. Fourth and Fifth were the twins, Maddie and Cole. They couldn't make it past eighteen. Sixth was Annie. She died two days before her thirteenth birthday. Seventh was Spenser. He died on his twelfth birthday. Eighth was Gracie. She was well into her seventh year. They all died within the same year, one after the other. One day they were alive, the next they weren't. There's only two of us left now. Two of us who outlived the rest of the Blythe line. Me, Arabella, and Charlie. That's it. No more of us to carry our mother's poison.
