Since that day, Pendleton lived with sorrow and guilt for not acting. One night, two nights after witnessing the gruesome murder, being so driven with guilt, he shot himself. Many of us know the rest- he ends up in hell, goes under the alias of Sir Pentious, sacrifices himself for his friends (and Cherri Bomb, of course) and gets into Heaven as a redeemed soul. But what if that never happened? What if Pendleton became so filled with guilt from his inability to act, that instead of becoming a vulnerable (yet acting villainous) snake demon in hell, he was doomed to wander his own workshop halls as a ghost? Well, that is exactly what happens. Almost ten years have passed in a still Victorian-era London, and author Emerson Wiles, a beautiful young lady, had rented the former inventor's apartment, turning it into a writer's haven.
