Holy Roman Empire, 1147. Emerentia, an 18-year-old nun suffering from visions of light, meets Ruperta, the caretaker of a medicinal herb garden. Ruperta speaks of her deep love for plants and her kindness gradually opens up to Emerentia.
They spend their days together touching the soil, growing medicinal herbs, making manuscripts, and singing hymns. The two souls begin to resonate beyond words. But this is an emotion that is not permitted for nuns.
Eventually, their relationship is questioned, and Ruperta is ordered to transfer to a new convent. The two are torn apart. In her solitude, Emerentia confronts her visions and grows as a person.
Then, when a plague strikes the village, the two meet again. Together, they save the sick, pray together, and then they have a final vision: their two souls merging, forever united in God's light.
Is this a sin, or God's love? Set in a 12th-century convent, this is a tale of souls woven by two women. The scent of medicinal herbs, the sounds of chants, and an eternal bond... As soul sisters, they walk the rest of their lives together.
