Giyuushino Stories

In an alternate ending where Shinobu survives the final battle, she and Giyu navigate the quiet aftermath of war. This is a story of slow healing, unspoken feelings, and the difficult, often silent, journey of two broken warriors finding solace and building a future together amidst their scars. I do not own the original work or the characters; all rights belong to Koyoharu Gotōge. I only own the plot of this fanfic.

Giyuu lay dying on his 25th birthday recounting all the good times he spent with his friends before and after the final battle with the demon king and his servants. Yet, as he takes his last breaths and finally finds solace in the life he's lived, he is mysteriously transported back a whole 8 years in the past. Now faced with a second opportunity to correct his mistakes and save the lives of those he felt indebted to, what would he do? -Certain character ages may be changed for the sake of the story (specific birthdays will be explained later). -Manga spoilers (why would anyone read a fanfic about the end of the series if they didn't finish the story)

Tomioka Giyuu once believed that his fate was to survive-to carry the pain of those who had fallen, until one day he himself would vanish as the price of power finally claimed him. When he stood before the divine, he was granted a chance to return to the past: to save the one he loved, to change the destinies of comrades who had been taken too soon by a merciless fate. The condition was placed before him without hesitation. A pale golden thread of fate, flickering like the dying light of a soul sinking ever deeper-one so thoroughly drowned in despair that it no longer possessed the strength to enter the cycle of reincarnation. It was not someone he knew. Nor was it someone he was permitted to ask salvation for. Yet Giyuu still reached out his hand, accepting the bond-accepting that from that moment onward, the destinies of two strangers would no longer pass each other like parallel lines, never meant to meet. The divine witnessed this choice and arranged a single point of intersection: a child who had not yet been born, a life that should have vanished before ever taking form, leaving behind a man destined to live his entire life in solitude. When Giyuu opened his eyes once more, he did not return to the past in the body of a warrior, but within the fragile vessel of a life that had only just begun. He was born into the arms of a man-not the strongest swordsman to have ever existed, but a father who had never been given the chance to hold onto his family. From that moment on, two fates were bound together. No one replaced another. No one inherited another's destiny. But from then on, neither of them would ever have to walk forward alone again.

Giyuu will still remember Shinobu after 100 years but Shinobu will not remember him, so Giyuu will try to remind her about him and the Hashiras and about the Kamaboko Squad.
