Giyuu lay dying on his 25th birthday recounting all the good times he spent with his friends before and after the final battle with the demon king and his servants. Yet, as he takes his last breaths and finally finds solace in the life he's lived, he is mysteriously transported back a whole 8 years in the past. Now faced with a second opportunity to correct his mistakes and save the lives of those he felt indebted to, what would he do? -Certain character ages may be changed for the sake of the story (specific birthdays will be explained later). -Manga spoilers (why would anyone read a fanfic about the end of the series if they didn't finish the story)

Tomioka Giyuu once believed that his fate was to survive-to carry the pain of those who had fallen, until one day he himself would vanish as the price of power finally claimed him. When he stood before the divine, he was granted a chance to return to the past: to save the one he loved, to change the destinies of comrades who had been taken too soon by a merciless fate. The condition was placed before him without hesitation. A pale golden thread of fate, flickering like the dying light of a soul sinking ever deeper-one so thoroughly drowned in despair that it no longer possessed the strength to enter the cycle of reincarnation. It was not someone he knew. Nor was it someone he was permitted to ask salvation for. The divine witnessed this choice and arranged a single point of intersection: a child who had not yet been born, a life that should have vanished before ever taking form, leaving behind a man destined to live his entire life in solitude. When Giyuu opened his eyes once more, he did not return to the past in the body of a warrior, but within the fragile vessel of a life that had only just begun. In an alternate ending where Shinobu Kocho survives the final battle, she and Giyu Tomioka navigate the quiet aftermath of war. This is a story of slow healing, unspoken feelings, and the difficult, often silent, journey of two broken warriors finding solace and building a future together amidst their scars. Shinobu Koucho frequently goes to a lab specifically open to let any college student run whatever tests and experiments they want to under the supervision of a licensed doctor or psychologist. She decided from a young age that she wanted to create cures for diseases and antidotes for any poison found in the wild. One early morning she was sitting in bed in her apartment writing her final research paper of the semester when she realized talking to someone who knows about marine life would be smart.

Giyuu reflects back on his past, to the present day of him being a demon who is now a part of the 12 kizuki, questioning whether he made the right decision of becoming a demon or not. The insect pillar, off to a new mission to a village, smells a demon scent not too far away. She follows the scent, to find an old friend, who's now a demon. Long-gone, Shinobu must make a decision. Save Giyuu from himself and break the demon slayer corps rules, or finish her duty as a hashira.
