Though deemed power-hungry and warmongering by those fortunate enough to live outside of its rule, to Gaia Machina, it was home. Well, "home" was a stretch. Initially planned to be an espionage unit more akin to an android than her MT brethren, budget limitations reduced Gaia to just another pawn used for more destruction. That was, until a chance fight outside of Insomnia, Lucis's capital, gave her the opportunity she needed for her own freedom. She was finally able to make her own choice: to take her own side and forge her own path- a path of redemption. Throwing caution to the wind and hiding her magitek nature, she set off to join Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum in finally bringing an end to Niflheim's destruction. However, walls eventually crumble, no matter what. Her act can only be held up for so long before her new friends realize she isn't exactly the hunter she claimed to be. It also seemed that fate had more in store for the rogue magitek than just helping the Chosen King fulfill his destiny. Reminders of her past, brought into a new light by her choices in the present. Sequel to Surprises but can be read standalone. Covers the in-game events (aside from the millions of sub quests that are irrelevant) up to the World of Ruin. The boys are setting out for Altissia, but nothing ever goes according to plan as they'll soon find out. What was meant to be a simple and straightforward journey, end's up a series of trials and tribulations for all of them, losses ensue and friendships are tested, but the main thing is they stick together. This is my take on the story of Final Fantasy XV, with a few tweaks here and there. And a whole new character in the mix. Be warned that this may contain spoilers in later chapters, to those who did not finish the game. I will add warnings before each chapter once they start tho.
