Scottish highlands, winter, 1691. A new king sits on the throne, and the clan chieftains have been given an ultimatum: swear their allegiance to the crown or face the dire consequences. The time remaining to take the oath is dwindling, but the MacDonalds of Glencoe are already pledged to the old king.
