Johnny feels his heart pound and his jaw throb as he stands back up, meeting the eyes of his opponent in the boxing ring. Rosa walks back in for her fifth audition this month, a smile on her face as the manager looks down at her. An evil mage cackles as Shane finds the will to stand up, despite his broken leg. Stuart speeds up in his space ship in a valleys of Mars, even though it is barely held together by patch work repairs done haphazardly by himself. No matter the genre, no matter the story, a hero must rise again. Hence, get knocked down nine times, stand back up ten. (A Wattpad knock-out competition anthology for gloves up)

a short story collection for my entries to the "Gloves Up | Multi-Genre SmackDown Contest". small chapter summaries below: ________ first chapter (qualifying): needs the TW for a lot of blood-imagery and allusions to murder and abuse (but it's kind of a love story, still). second chapter (1.1): a fluffy sapphic meet-cute in a coffee shop where the author leans into all the romance clichés there are :D third chapter (1.2): a sweet (?) little wild west fantasy story about badass bounty hunters. fourth chapter (bonus 1): an entry for the prompt "steampunk" and i think it turned into the start of a rebellion? fifth chapter (1.3): probably needs trigger warnings again, for a very unreliable narrator in the form of Nick Carraway, starring in a Great Gatsby retelling that features zombies and the yucky things that come with that. enjoy!
