When Hades, god of the underworld and the dead, notices a strange disturbance in the amount of souls in the underworld.
One man's soul, split. A fragment of the soul in the underworld, still waiting for the others to return.
Hades is way too busy to deal with it himself, and with an old rule that gods aren't allowed to interfere with mortals lives, well... this really pissed him off.
So what better then to send some demigods on a quest to make sure the dark lord doesn't rise again? And who's to say they can't be his own kids?

When humans were still being perfected by the titans, Hecate had come forward to add her own additions to them. She foresaw that the humans would need her skills to defeat this one particular person, by the name of Tom riddle.
So what did she do?
She did what she had to do. Hecate decided to take matters into her own hands, not wanting to anger the titans and the gods, she simply didn't tell anyone what she had done.
She gave some of the humans magic.
The gods found out a few centuries later, and forbade Hecate from intervening anymore.
But when what Hecate foresaw was about to come true, she knew she couldn't sit still and watch one main try to gain immortality.
She knew hades wouldn't be happy, so she went with him with an idea...
