After being falsely imprisoned for his wife's murder, Lee Fisk is approached by a mysterious man offering a pill that grants "freedom." Upon taking it, Lee escapes prison-only to discover a powerful alter ego named Vera now lives inside him. Vera, born from Lee's suppressed rage and trauma, begins hunting down the real killers. As Lee wrestles with her violent justice, she grows stronger, eventually confronting powerful heroes like Captain America and The Sentry. Her battle with the Void nearly ends the world-but she defeats it and kills Sentry at his request. Though she surrenders herself, she is later freed to help fight Thanos in the final war. In peacetime, Lee tries to move on with Mockingbird... but Vera remains, watching, protective-and possibly in love. It's a story of identity, justice, and a man torn between who he is... and what he created.
