GoldenKit is one of four kits to her ShadowStripe and AdderHeart. At once carefree, like all kits, she plays and sleeps and complains. As she advances towards apprenticeship, GoldenKit begins to notice that the deputy, LightningHeart, is acting strange. She also experiences LizardStrike's surly temper first-paw, when he cut open her nose as a kit. As GoldenKit grows up, she wants to wail like a newborn kit when disaster strikes and she's stuck in the middle with no where to go.
