Hunter Noceda has always firmly believed that the best way to go about life is to be yourself. But when you're a queer kid with a single mom and a love for the macabre---not to mention, one who looks like they've stepped out of a fantasy novel---being yourself tends to cause more trouble than good. And when the visits to the principal's office become one too many and his mom decides to send him to summer camp, Hunter is pretty sure his life is over... Until he stumbles into the demon realm, better known as the Boiling Isles. There, things only start to improve. He gets taken in by an outlaw known as the Owl Lady, who teaches him how to be a witch. He makes several new friends---plus a couple enemies, one of which is infuriatingly cute. And he's getting closer and closer to finding out if he has ties to this realm... but there are dark secrets lurking beneath the bones. And one tiny misstep could cost Hunter his life. Hunter wasn't home, in fact he wasn't even in his world anymore, he was somewhere extraordinary, somewhere he'd only fantasized about in books. He was where fairy tales went to die and replaced with Grimm tales. He was in hell and he was definitely okay with it. Au where Hunter and Edric switch places with Amity and Luz, Hunter is going to be the human choosing to be in the boiling isles and taken in by Eda, except people at home aren't quite as welcoming as Luz's mom. Edric is Amity, the tight laced boy bursting to break free of his mothers rules and responsibilities. And of course just like Amity and Luz these two fall in love.

So Dana used to just refer to the golden guard as "the spy" before his official title and later name was revealed, so I thought I'd take a spin on that and make him go to Hexside as a spy, but instead of learning information about his targets, he learns more about himself. This takes place only a couple days after episode six. Also I wanted the first chapter published before midnight so that whatever happens in episode seven doesn't ruin what I write, but in case it does just not I probably don't consider anything past episode six as canon in this story. After a somewhat successful mission at Eclipse Lake, Hunter runs into one of the Blight twins by accident. And after many other encounters and kidnappings, they start to become friends. As their friendship grows, so does something else. [It's the same as the first version plot wise, but obviously different because of the writing style and small changes.]

I got this idea from the song Heather by Conan Gray. This is an AU where Hunter was adopted by Eda and Raine when he was 7, he lived with his abusive uncle before that. Luz is their adopted daughter and she's half witch half human. King is the same like on the show. Edric and Hunter met when they were 8 and became best friends, and they have feelings for each other but they don't realise it. Edric thinks Hunter likes Willow and is jealous of her. Hunter likes Edric but is too scared to tell him. He's also very confused about himself. Edric doesn't use the concealment stone to hide his glasses, he uses it for hair, acne and stuff. He's also trans They're all the same age as the show. I obviously don't own the characters. Cover art is not mine, and neither it the art in the chapters.

This is an Owl House fanfic. Its a what if Hunter was raised as a human, but he still is a grimwalker. Hunter was raised by Ms. Noceda. Luz found her way into the Boiling Isles Hunter follows her. Eda knows what Emperor Belos would do if he found Hunter so she tries to protect him, she tries to get him to go back to the human realm but he won't go with out Luz. This is a goldric fanfic, even though its not gonna be canon.
