Amanda is miserable, and feels hopelessly trapped in her life of status. Dick Ryndon, Amanda's ultra-wealthy ex-boyfriend, only saw her as a trophy. He didn't love her, but everyone told her that staying with him was best for her status. That is, right up until the moment when he dropped her off in the country, and left her for dead. Joshua Whitaker is a hard working middle class boy, with a warm heart, and a strong conscience. At 16, he has an after school job, and drives a pick-up. He and his family routinely help-out their elderly neighbors. They are good Samaritans, living out the precept- "love your neighbor." Joshua and Amanda have never liked each other. But when Amanda finds herself stuck in Joshua's family's home, she's exposed to another way of living. Amanda is forced to face herself, her past, and an uncertain future. This is Mark Vidulin's winning entry for the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario's 1994 "Voice of Hallowe'en" student writing contest, as read by Andy Barrie, host of CFRB 1010 radio, on Saturday, October 29th, 1994 at the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Flora McRae Auditorium, Toronto, Ontario. Trapped with a stranger, in a snowstorm, with no contact with the outside world, Ghost realises he must overcome his fear of vulnerability and deep rooted stubbornness, and accept help. He never would have imagined that backing down and swallowing his pride, could open so many doors. This storyline originated from Ghost and Roach being left for dead after being betrayed. It changed and morphed into this one after the remastered Modern Warfare, brought a new life to the character of Ghost. If I have time, I may repost with the original backstory.
