Healers are mostly known for their supportive role, providing aid to the "real heroes". I wanted to write a story where the healer was the hero. The idea mostly started when my husband told me I'd be a healer if D&D classes reflected reality. My first reaction was "wow, what the heck", like that was something to be offended by.
