Historias de Gorgons

This is an excerpt from my first novel, "Medousa;" a retelling of the myth of Medousa from her own point of view. It covers almost the entirety of her life from childhood as a slave in Sparta, to her death at the hands of Perseus. In this portion, Medousa rescues a group of Amazon children from a Hittite exploratory force that had invaded the territory of Themiscyra.

In Greek mythology, Medusa, originally a beautiful woman, was transformed into a monstrous Gorgon with snakes for hair and a gaze that could turn people to stone, after being violated by Poseidon in Athena's temple.

It's been 5 months since the last villian stepped inside Storybrooke. All has been well. A new exhibit has opened in the library and everyone is excited. Many Greek artifacts are displayed including two mysterious statuettes. An outside visitor decides to go see it and they have more than visiting on their mind.

3,000 years ago, there lived a Gorgon named Medusa. At one glance, she could turn a person to stone with her ugliness. No one knew how old she was, or how she had gotten to be so hideous, but it was rumored that the Goddess Athena had made her that way. Medusa had never known love, constantly shunned by everyone, and anyone that dared to even enter her cave was turned to stone. Until one day, a blind girl was sent as the sacrifice.

Has Seph made the right choice to trust him? Or is he the one that wants her dead?
