Goromiyazaki Stories

The twentieth entry of the 2020-2021 Film Journal is "Earwig and the Witch". Here, I sing the high praises of Studio Ghibli, lay out all of my feelings about computer animation, and examine the studio's latest film that has been given such a negative reputation.

Krista is learning magic and has been forced to work for the witch, Bella Yaga. She helps with potions for customers but then Bella Yaga and The Mandrake adopt a girl called Erica to help woth more chores,together both new to be witches stay close and try to uncover some secrets from the unlikely pair. Kris not only is a witch but suffers from amnesia after an accident years ago, through some memories she begins to discover her past.
