अहिल्याबाई होल्कर (1725-1795) एक महान शासक थी और मालवा प्रांत की महारानी। लोग उन्हें राजमाता अहिल्यादेवी होल्कर नाम से भी जानते हैं और उनका जन्म महाराष्ट्र के चोंडी गांव में 1725 में हुआ था। उनके पिता मानकोजी शिंदे खुद धनगर समाज से थे, जो गांव के पाटिल की भूमिका निभाते थे। उनके पिता ने अहिल्याबाई को पढ़ाया-लिखाया। अहिल्याबाई का जीवन भी बहुत साधारण तरीके से गुजर रहा था। लेकिन एकाएक भाग्य ने पलटी खाई और वह 18वीं सदी में मालवा प्रांत की रानी बन गईं। युवा अहिल्यादेवी का चरित्र और सरलता ने मल्हार राव होल्कर को प्रभावित किया। वे पेशवा बाजीराव की सेना में एक कमांडर के तौर पर काम करते थे। उन्हें अहिल्या इतनी अच्छी लगी कि उन्होंने उनकी शादी अपने बेटे खांडे राव से करवा दी। इस तरह अहिल्या बाई एक दुल्हन के तौर पर मराठा समुदाय के होल्कर राजघराने में पहुंची। उनके पति की मौत 1754 में कु
