Overtime, however, after third grade, they grew apart. Elias was held back a grade, and Graciela kept going forward. Elias was older than Graciela, but with their separate grades, people started to think otherwise. Soon, Graciela was in sixth grade, Elias in fifth. Girls were crushing on Elias and his bad boy looks, and boys were crushing on Graciela and her model-like body. Elias has always declined the girls and Graciela the boys. They never felt that pull.
