Heiko's always been the quiet, calm type, but people keep writing him off as cold or uninterested no matter what, so eventually he just stopped trying to explain himself, even if deep down he still hopes someone will see the real him someday. Then there's Josh, bright and bubbly, the kind of guy who makes even boring moments feel fun, who's always been sure he's straight. He's only ever had eyes for women, and while he's totally supportive of everyone around him, he just figured he knew exactly what he wanted, or so he thought. They end up as next door condo neighbors, and what started as casual neighborly kindness turns into something neither of them saw coming, proving that even two people who seem like total opposites can fit each other perfectly.

This story is about lost hopes in friendship and the struggles of the main character. The reader will watch character grow, develop as a person, meet different people and go places. By that time, Evan will be fully healed so he can pitch against his arch nemesis Mike Hemingway and Hemingway's stacked team of the best players in the state! Will Sam have enough confidence in himself to convince players to be on his team without Evan- the star pitcher- at the helm? Will Sam and Evan figure out Mike Hemingway's only weakness? Will they learn the key to what it takes to be overwhelming and unbeatable underdogs? This book has multiple narrators and two story lines. One story takes place in modern day and the other takes place in 1985- a long, long time ago.
