The Kingston's were always more than a family. They were a dynasty-ruling New York from the shadows, with power flowing through their veins for generations. Nothing happened in their city without their knowledge or control. It was a legacy of power, loyalty, and secrets, passed down without question. Now, Reese Kingston, the only child of the infamous Vaughn Kingston, is drowning under the crushing weight of the city's expectations. She was born to inherit it all-but can she live up to the impossible standards that shaped the Kingston empire? When long-lost relatives resurface, bringing promises of unity, Reese sees her chance to prove she's not just an heir, but the rightful successor to the Kingston throne. But beneath the surface of this reunion lies a web of buried secrets and bitter betrayals. The Kingston legacy is not what it seems-and Reese is about to discover that power, once fractured, is far more dangerous than she ever imagined. Now, she must decide: will she restore the family's iron grip on New York, or will its hidden past destroy everything she's ever known?

When twelve-year-old Lily sits alone on a dock feeling invisible, her grandmother Evelyn joins her and begins sharing stories from a lifetime ago. Growing up in rural America during the early twentieth century, Evelyn learned what it felt like to have her feelings dismissed, her voice overlooked, and her dreams quietly pushed aside. Through stories of childhood, family, hardship, resilience, and self-discovery, she reveals the lessons that shaped her life and the wisdom she wishes someone had shared with her when she was young. As the seasons pass and their conversations deepen, Lily begins to see that the struggles she faces are not so different from those of generations before her. Together, grandmother and granddaughter discover that while times may change, the need to be heard, valued, and loved remains the same. A heartfelt historical novel about family, healing, courage, and finding your voice.

*Disclaimer: This story contains mature content including violence, severely traumatic events, and themes of survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Reader discretion is advised.* When the bombs turned Texas to ash and ruin, nestled inside a cave of the Palo Duro Canyon stood Vault 97. A place that was supposed to be a safe haven for Daisy Carson. Daisy never asked to wake up one hundred and eighty years after the end of the world - not to find herself a prisoner of Vault 97's twisted project nor to be branded a bounty with secrets on a stolen holotape. When she escapes, battered and chained, she crosses paths with a lone ghoul - a wandering gunslinger who drifts between the crosses of dead churches and the neon bones of old towns across the vast wasteland, rosary rattling like the warning of a viper. He claims he wants the bounty on her head. He claims he's just another survivor trying to get paid. But campfires crack open old wounds, and every prayer whispered into the wasteland binds them tighter than the chains they share. Together they carve a bloody trail from the rotting slave pens of New Amarillo to the ghost ranches of Mercy - a place where family and faith were all that mattered - and from the Texas wasteland down to the Mexican badlands.

Jasmine "Jazz" King has always been a ghost in her family's world-a small-time hustler with a reputation for being a wild card who wanted nothing more than to escape the shadow of her grandmother. But Cora "The Black Widow" King wasn't just a grandmother. She was the feared and revered matriarch of the city's most powerful enterprise, a woman who controlled the streets with a blend of loyalty, secrets, and an iron will. When Cora dies, everyone expects her empire to fall to her ruthless sons. Instead, the will names Jazz as the sole heir. The inheritance is not a gift, but a brutal test. To keep the crown, she must outsmart her male relatives, navigate a world of shifting alliances, and learn the truth about the "business" her grandmother built. The only question is, can a street-smart girl with no ambition for a throne prove she's worthy of wearing the crown before it crushes her?

"People think memories fade as we grow old," my grandmother once told me. "But the truth is, they never leave. They just learn to stay quiet." When I went to spend my summer with my grandmother, **Sheryl Verma**, I thought I'd be listening to the same old family stories I'd heard a hundred times before. I couldn't have been more wrong. One evening, she began telling me the story of her life-a story she had never shared with anyone. As the days passed, I learned about the people who came into her life, the friendships she made, the love she found, the betrayals she faced, and the choices that changed everything. With every story, I realised that the past never really stays in the past. It lives on through the people who carry it. This isn't just my grandmother's story. It's the story of a family, of people connected by love, loss, secrets, and hope. And before the summer was over, it became a part of my story too.

This is my story of the mental struggle both my granddaughter and I go through daily. I've recently visited her and I understand more fully of her diagnosis of her mental health and as, I , too, have some of the same conditions as she; I want to support and encourage her and maybe others who may read my story here. I believe also that my faith in God has helped me over the years also. I believe that the Lord has saved not only my soul but my life many times in my lifetime. Prayer and going to worship services have helped me to stay positive most days, and I also try to communicate what helps me to my granddaughter. She has her ways of coping, but I fear she needs more support and encouragement. People are ignorant about mental health problems ,so they are afraid of what they don't understand, so please educate yourself as I did about your loved one's condition so you can better help with loving encouragement and support. We need many qualities that Jesus taught to help them, such as patience, kindness, compassion, understanding, and most of all, unconditional love. Depression and anxiety and PTSD along with short term memory loss are overwhelming obstacles for a young mother to deal with on a daily basis ; so I will try to be more understanding and support her as much as I can. Trying to play a doctor or nurse or psychiatrist is not helpful. In fact, she rejects such advice, and it angers her , so that is the wrong approach to use.

Back at those days I used to laugh, run, and smile as I hold his warm hands. Now, I'm just a ordinary girl walking down this empty corridor with no emotions or whatsoever. Why? Because he didn't fulfil his promise, he lied about leaving us. He lied too many times over and over again. I just wish that when I walk through this corridor, they would stop compared us. He, Alfred Wyatt Rhendmons was a hero, everyone admired him. I however are nothing compared to him, I'm not strong like he is, I didn't have the charisma just like him, I'm not brave like him. So stop compared me to him. Is being the granddaughter of an hero means I have to live in his shadows? How would I, Mioritta Beatrix Rhendmons become the person who I want to be?
