I didn't know what to name this but since a lot of the one-shot i have written have death involved somewhere so far so I thought this name would suit it.

A short story about a little girl that moves to another town, there, on a playground not far from her house, she makes a new friend, a mysterious pale girl sitting on a swing.

Young Gerald Herbert Mortem, son of the affluent Mortem family, was used to being left alone. His parents had little time for him after attending to their many responsibilities, and he was not allowed to leave their large estate. One day, a tall, gaunt man dressed fully in black entered his room unexpectedly and without permission. Gerald was delighted for the company, and his delight grew even more when the man promised to take him to “a better place”. A simple short story written in the spirit of Halloween.

So have you ever wondered, what happens after we die? I remember when I was seven I asked my mom that same question, the night my father died and she gave me the usually speech about heaven and hell, and how daddy was in a better place and told me not to worry, you know the usual mom stuff. And I believed every word she said, I believed there was a magical place in the sky were you meet all your dead relatives and didn’t have a worry or care in the world, and that there was also an evil dark place underground were you spent all eternity being tortured. And as I say again I believed all this, notice how I said believed. I believed this to be true, until ten years after my father died. On a cold and wet September afternoon I went to visit his grave. And there I met Isabel.
