Just when Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle, thinks he and the team have been rid of the Reach for good, and Green Beetle's scarab had been recreated, the impossible happens. The scarabs from every other planet with life have been sent to Earth as revenge against Blue Beetle. And worse, Black Beetle's scarab has also been recreated, and Black Beetle has arrived back on Earth. Jaime still blames himself for Wally West's death. Now with this extraterrestrial situation thrown at him and the team, he feels even more at blame for attracting the Reach's attention in the first place.
