since liz can remember, she has never felt at home in America. for heavens sake, she couldnt say she was sad there, but the quiet secondary streets of queens were not what she dreamed of. instead, she felt attracted to the chaotic london stadiums, full of violence but at the same time of faith for those teams.
on August 15, 1990, liz's dream had come true. her father, a robust man and devoted to work, had received a promotion and for the necessity of the company he would have had to move in the United Kingdom. any child, learning of a transfer to a distant country and without friends, would have burst into tears. liz had cried too, but with joy.
on the day of their arrival in the lively stratford neighbourhood, liz needed to take just a breath on the english soil to understand that she was finally home. in a few days, her room had already filled with the voice of another little girl, her new neighbour. her name was julia, she was born and raised there, and she was one of the few childreen who didn't call her "yankee", a relief.
from that day on, liz and julia became inseparable, and it's from there, dear readers, that we start our story.
