Okay lads, I see you reading this. You're wondering why this fic is worth your time. I can honestly say that it might not be, because it is my first work, but here's the thing. IF YOU LIKE HIGH FANTASY, IF YOU LIKE STEVEN UNIVERSE, and most importantly, IF YOU WANT AN ORIGINAL SU STORYLINE THAT ISN'T A RECYCLED BECKIE SWEETS PLOTLINE, Then, by all means, give this fic a hit. It's long, but if you're a fantasy fan, you might like it. Inspired by elements of LOTR, Wizard of Earthsea, Wheel of Time and God of War (the latest game) and many more. (In this High Fantasy Alternate Universe, gems and humans live side by side, Diamonds are not Gem matriarchs but godly celestial beings, worshipped by humans and gems alike. There is no caste system except those enforced by the ruling parties of each kingdom, and not all of our original Steven Universe characters are gems.)

Professor Matina Montoya specializes in the field of biological DNA reproductions (clones, in other words). Recently, she's been called to study and watch over a successful specimen over in Beach City. Created from the DNA of an unknown Gem that was found years ago, Fordite is the first of her kind and the first step in aiding humans in their knowledge of the mysterious aliens known to the world as 'Gems'. As much at Professor Matina knows about Fordite, it seems to stand that Fordite knows almost little about herself. A sickly looking thing, Fordite is without a mouth, and even though she carries the direct DNA from a fallen Gem, Fordite doesn't seem to have a gem of her own. Nightmares plague Fordite's mind every night about a war she's never seen, but who is she supposed to tell about this when she *isn't* able to tell them? Meanwhile, through an overused trope in fan fiction, Steven meets Fordite and finds that there's something awfully familiar about her but just can't place his finger on it. Just looking at this girl makes Steven form feelings that are as conflicting as they are comforting, and he's determined to get down to the truth. As new discoveries are made, Steven makes the decisions to not tell the Crystal Gems about this new, cloned Gem and the possible connection she could have to Rose Quartz. What if there were more reasons for the peace at beach city besides the crystal gems. Well there is. Y/n universe who was taken to war in the place of every person on the promise that he would be a better soldier than all of them combined. Of course there were some complications in this but the promise was made and 14 years later it was time for y/n to come home.
