Kaz Brekker's late brother, Jordie, is a well kept secret but not nearly as hidden as the knowledge that Kaz grew up with an adoptive sister too. It's almost ridiculous considering how famous Solène Lux is, her elite status and connections prove useful to him occasionally and his Dregs take care of any dirty work she needs done. Their bond is deeper than blood, class and their differences. With a murder and a mystery hovering over Ketterdam affecting both the gangs and the high society, Kaz and Solène have to find out who or what is behind all this while making sure no one (including Solène's new husband of convenience) finds out about their connection.
