Cub was told from the very first day: never reveal himself. Hide the wings. Hide the horns. Hide the sharpness of his smile and the power humming just beneath his skin. Be smaller. Be quieter. Be less. So he learned. He learned how to file his horns down until they ached, until the dull nubs left behind could pass for harmless deformities rather than proof of what he truly was. He learned how to grind his teeth flat, ignoring the sting and the copper taste in his mouth, because predators were feared-and fear invited questions. He learned how to fold his wings tight against his back, binding them beneath a lab coat that hung heavy and stiff, its fabric hiding the faint shimmer of vex light that refused to be fully smothered. Most days, the coat was enough. Most days, no one noticed the way he stood too still, or how his eyes caught the light just a little wrong. No one questioned why he flinched at mirrors, or why he never laughed with his mouth open. They saw a scientist. A helper. Someone safe. And that was the point. Because Cub knew-had always known-that the moment the truth was seen, the moment the wings unfurled or the horns grew back sharp and proud, the world would stop calling him Cub and start calling him something else entirely.

This is a fantasy kingdom themed Hermitcraft/Empires au that I'm deciding to test out writing as slight change to the usual 'Watcher Grian au' in the hopes that this new book won't flop and I won't get bored of it- Anyways: It's just your average day about the kingdom, well for most that is. For the royal twins, it was finally their 18th birthday, the day in which they will be legally classed as adults and get to enforce laws of their own. The public, on the other hand, were looking forward to the traditional celebrations in the evening and treating themselves to fancy meals and bestowing gifts upon the two princes. All was going so well until a hooded figure is sighted lurking about the village, and all anyone can do is jump to conclusions. Rumours are spread, and questions fill the air. Are they an assassin? Why are they here? Are they a threat? Are they just a surprise for the princes? Well, the answer to those questions is simply... No. This hooded figure was simply trying to live their life without getting caught or found to be a... [TRIGGER WARNING] This book may (will most likely) contain the following: •Swearing •Platonic shipping of the characters ONLY!! •Fight scenes •Injuries and other descriptions of violence and possible gore If you do not like any of these, then DO NOT read this book. The rulers, the species that was created by humans, they were ones that never should have been possible. XisumaVoid, he's been the admin of Hermitcraft for quite some time now. He's had many people join (and a few leave) the server. The Watchers and Listeners, they're the beings that guide and help players and admins. Sure, the Watchers are cruel at times, but that's why they have the kinder Listeners. They're there to keep each other in check while keeping the worlds. Xisuma knows that they are good overall, though. But when he gets a strange dream where the Primals warn him of his Hermits, he thinks they must be crazy. Sure, Zedaph could be a bit freaky about his "experiments" sometimes, or Grian could get a bit too into a conflict at times. But from Xisuma's oldest to his newest members, they were all good spirits. And, the Primals warning Xisuma about his own BROTHER too? How can he trust them? And how can he believe some of the outrageous things he learns about his Hermits? But who can he trust? Whose side? (dissonance • noun • a tension or clash resulting from the combination of two disharmonious or unsuitable elements.) The Hermit Academy for the Gifted was... well, for the gifted. Only those with incredible and unique abilities could ever dream of being accepted. And, somehow, Mumbo Jumbo got in. Yeah, that's great, except there was nothing special about him. He was an average guy with average interests who got average grades and did average things. You could say he was the most average teenager to ever exist. Unfortunately for him, the most unaverage thing to ever happen to anyone... would happen to him.
