Not many people realize what Guatemala is like- and the journey to immigrate and integrate yourself into another culture and world. Hopefully, this will help you realize and/or understand the struggles, triumphs and joys that come with being Mayan and living in America. My personal rant and insight of my crazy life, and that of my community.

Desiré moved to America from Cuba, when she was fourteen, with her mom and three younger brothers to get away from their abusive father. Everything is going great until her mother gets sick and eventually dies when Desiré is sixteen. She learns to cope with the fact that she just lost her bestfriend. But when she is twenty some one comes into her life.
