At its heart, it follows Gunnar living a double life during the Junior Goodwill Games in Los Angeles. To everyone else, he is still the intense, disciplined captain of the Icelandic Vikings. In secret, though, he is already married to Bambi Bombay, Gordon Bombay's daughter, and they are raising a baby daughter together while Bambi is also newly pregnant with their second child. The story explores Gunnar trying to balance hockey, pressure from his team and coach, and his fierce love for his wife and children. A big part of the story is the contrast between Gunnar's cold, intimidating public image and the soft, deeply protective husband and father he becomes around Bambi and their daughter. There are tender scenes of Bambi watching him practice, breastfeeding their baby in the stands, Gunnar pulling her onto the ice for a private moment, kissing her, resting his hand on her stomach, and both of them soothing their fussy baby together. The flashbacks add emotional depth by showing the milestones of their relationship: finding out about the first pregnancy, learning they were having a girl, and the chaos and love surrounding the birth of their daughter. The tension rises when Gunnar's best friend and teammate Olaf accidentally discovers the truth, and later when Coach Stansson becomes suspicious and threatening. That turns the story into more than just a secret romance-it becomes about Gunnar defending his family at all costs. The game scene reinforces that theme too, because even in the middle of competition, Gunnar's attention snaps to Bambi and their daughter the moment the baby gets upset. After Gordon's knee injury, his half sister moves to Minnesota to be with him. Number 99 asks. I snort, very unladylike as my aunt would say, "Yeah. You wish." I feel hands on my shoulders as Gordon's booming voice calls out, "I'd like to introduce my little sister, Wren. {SEQUEL TO 'If Someone Cared'} The Ducks are back at it again, with a few new players of course. Adrian and her teammates are now playing for Team USA in the Junior Goodwill Games. She and Averman are coming back with more humor and laughs. Who knows? Maybe they will finally admit their feelings along the way. Or not. You'll just have to see it for yourself.
