During Griffith's torture, he hallucinates and sees Guts in his cell. This is simply what I thought was going through that beast's mind during the times he was unattended, especially concerning Guts.

After Guts starts having problems with money, he starts to box underground. That's how he met Griffith. Well, Guts, being desperate, agrees to a deal that he now regrets.
