Though her father was slightly disappointed that she was not a boy, he was still happy about having another little girl to spoil and cherish. Naela was a happy little princess, she was always following Rhaenyra around, and running around the halls of the Red Keep. Her father used to call her his clever little dragon. Naela always held a certain temper, she wasn't as forgiving to disrespect, and held grudges longer than the usual person. Naela was always watchful over her mother when she was pregnant, even when she was three years old, and didn't fully understand the weight of what her mother was going through. She always knew somehow that her mother was going through something bigger than what words can describe. Rhaenyra and Naela have a strong bond, and Naela feels that she would follow Rhaenyra to the ends of the world, and vice versa. Naela has a strong bond with her dragon, Brightfyre. Brightfyre was hatched for Naela specifically, her dragon is the offspring of Silverwing and Vermithor. Brightfyre has pink scales with white accents, she has opalescent tones on her wings, and yellow eyes. She seemed to always be on her dragon, challenging Rhaenyra to races and just exploring the keep. Naela has always been curious, and she has slowly learned that is a dangerous thing to be. She was still somewhat newly graduated and the owner of her flower shop the "Flowing Meadow" which has been taken off well. She is stubborn and determined woman who will not back down, but she is also kind and empathetic. So when her sister dies, she goes to helper her other sister Jenna take care of their niece and nephew. But she was not expecting to get dragged into the supernatural world that she had no idea existed.

The War of heirs or Dance of the Dragons was a civil war during Targaryen rule of the Seven Kingdoms. A war of succession between Aegon II and Rhaenyra over their father Viserys I's throne, the war was fought from 130 AC to 132 AC. Dragon for Dragon Aegon's claim was based on the fact that he was the first born male of King Viserys while Rhaenyra's claim was based on the fact that Viserys had named her heir to Dragonstone and the Iron Throne and that King had supported this decision until his last breath. Aegon was crowned at Kingslanding in front of all the people, some calling him usurper and others recognizing him as Rhaenyra who was crowned with the crown of Jahaerys and his father Viserys from the hands of his daughter Visenya II Targaryen and Ser Erryk at Dragonstone. The kingdom divided into two camps, brother against brother, family against family and dragon against dragon. Despite the attacks of the greens Rhaenyra tried to keep the kingdom in peace at the request of his heiress Visenya, Daemon did not agree with this, Luke had to be avenged.
