Vampires were sick and tired of hiding so they came out of the darkness to the humans. The humans responded poorly and a war broke out. After years of fighting, the vampires won. Humans were either forced into hiding, made into vampires, or forced to be servants or pets. Being a pet to a vampire was the worst possible status for a human, they were treated like dirt; being forced to follow all the commands of their vampire masters and be living blood bags.
