But after one strange proof that she's dead, she found herself ninety-nine percent convinced he was right. The remaining one percent is busy arguing with Kael. A sarcastic ghost who's somehow even more confusing than the strange place called The Waiting. Unfortunately for both of them, they're stuck together and spend their days chasing memories, crossing paths with the living and trying to answer one impossible question. If this isn't the end.. A loose retelling of the classic epic, The Odyssey, by Greek poet Homer. Except starring Mello, Matt, other assorted Death Note Characters, and a few (okay a bunch) of random OCs.

A woman wakes to find that the life she once lived may not have been lived at all, and life she's now asked to lead doesn't suit her one bit. This is a story of survival and of finding one's place in the world. NOTE: The themes and greater universe are borrowed from Hugh Howey's Half Way Home, but the characters and setting are not. As such, a reading of the original novel is not required to understand and enjoy this short story. Enjoy!

Alex isn't a bad guy, he just did a bad thing, again. At his new job as a janitor after being released from jail discovers the room he's in charge of cleaning is home to an AI who is going to be destroyed, fleeing from his job and the government, him the woman who created the AI and one of his friends in the halfway home set out on a road trip to prove that the AI isn't a danger to people so that it won't be destroyed, as the AI named Ace said, "It's road tripping time!" (rated 13 and up for cursing and sex references )
