Lírios, flores tão belas e que jamais pensei que pudessem me causar tanta dor de cabeça. Aquela doença me consumia aos poucos, e sentia vontade de simplesmente me deixar consumir por aquelas pétalas brancas e morrer. Infelizmente, para mim, ser um imortal implicava em muitas coisas, e uma delas era sentir tudo o que a doença normalmente proporcionava, com a maldição de não conseguir ir embora desse mundo. A short story about the Hanahaki Disease

Hanahaki Byou(花吐き病) An illness born from one-sided love. Those affected with Hanahaki Byou or Hanahaki disease vomit and cough up flower petals-sometimes whole flowers depending on the severity of the case. The cause of the coughing up and vomiting of petals is due to the growth of a flower within the infected person's chest. There are only two cures. One is to have the feelings returned-no side effects whatsoever. The other is through surgery-a simple procedure that removes the flower and remaining petals from the chest cavity. When the petals disappear, so do the feelings and memories of the unrequited affection. If not cured or if left alone, the flower will grow and grow until eventually the person affected asphyxiates.

Keith is in love with a knight who defends the village against dragon, but to his dismay the knight has his heart stolen by another girl. The girl is in love with somebody else. Keith and Lance both suffer Hanahaki disease and decide to help each other out. Their hanahaki finally deteriorates as they realise they've developed love each other in the process.
