Daughters of the families that were conceived through Handmaids, taken from their birth mothers and given to the elite, wealthy couples who were infertile. However, when these girls come of age, their fate depends on their fertility. Sara learns her future is that of her mother, her real mother, who's arms she was ripped from. Who was never seen again. After she is sent to be a handmaid, she learns about the Underground Railroad from a guard who wants to help her be free. Gabe has her ticket to freedom, but Sara doesn't want to leave him behind.

Themes: Love, Lust, Piousness, Control, Sin, Internal Conflict, Forgiveness Plot: A young teenage girl in Gilead enters what she believes to be a new, blessed chapter in her life in a new, large city after having lived on a farm for years, leaving behind her family in the process. She struggles with understanding love, God, herself, and the society she has up until now, wholeheartedly supported, as she finds love in an unexpected place.

I have always loved the book The Handmaid's Tale and stories about robots. So I wrote a story that blended these elements. The protagonist Chip begins as an amnesiac household robot who awakens in an abandoned city ruin, having forgotten her own identity. She only remembers that she is a household robot, so naturally believes that finding humans and serving them according to Asimov's Three Laws is the meaning of her existence. Before long, she does find the remaining humans, but is shocked to discover human civilization has regressed to medieval levels, with the Church imposing harsh ignorant rule over the people. Especially women, who suffer strict confinement. Chip observes this strange society. Although she is programmed to unconditionally obey and protect humans, people's savage behavior still unconsciously triggers some of her pre-installed functions, causing her to help people become more civilized and mentally healthier in some odd ways. Rather than be a savior, Chip only wants to be a good nanny and psychologist.

When society becomes a sexist coven of what "gods plan" is for woman, only the fertile are sought after.
