My name is Joann. I'm seventeen years old. I live in the Republic of Gilead as an econowife. I've been married for six months now, and I'm a little over five months pregnant. Some say women like me are among the lucky ones. Maybe they're right. But each of us carries our own burdens-silent or spoken. This is mine. *This story is based in the Novel Universe of The Handmaid's Tale by Margret Atwood. I don't not own the original source material. These characters are my own, I've stayed as close to the source material as possible but as this is a different story, set in a different district, some details will be changed*

What happens when a young woman puts her trust into a complete stranger. Things aren't always as they seem. Karena is dealing with her difficult past, being forced into a life she never asked for, fleeing her captives only to stumble upon a people and introduced into a new way of life she is not familiar with. When Karena has given up on people she comes across "him". The one who changed her life forever.

Margaret Atwood's novel, Handmaid's Tale, and TV series based on it are hot properties right now. Thought I might try to reimagine the Handmaid's perspective on the course of human events, with a little of the French Revolution thrown in.

Handmaid's are selected based on three things: beauty, genes, and fertility. Each woman is raised thinking that they are on this earth to reproduce and populate the colony. Girls are sold off as young as twelve to be slaves to their master. One handmaid becomes the wife and the others are there to mass-produce heirs. One colony began an uprising among the women started by: Josephine. Together Lucy and Jo form the rebellion that Marshall Whittmore wants to stop. He wants to end it before it is too late. The ladies of the colony have a plan and know it will work - but some of them are unsure. Find out what happens when they attempt to break away. #myhandmaidstale entry #2

I have always loved the book The Handmaid's Tale and stories about robots. So I wrote a story that blended these elements. The protagonist Chip begins as an amnesiac household robot who awakens in an abandoned city ruin, having forgotten her own identity. She only remembers that she is a household robot, so naturally believes that finding humans and serving them according to Asimov's Three Laws is the meaning of her existence. Before long, she does find the remaining humans, but is shocked to discover human civilization has regressed to medieval levels, with the Church imposing harsh ignorant rule over the people. Especially women, who suffer strict confinement. Chip observes this strange society. Although she is programmed to unconditionally obey and protect humans, people's savage behavior still unconsciously triggers some of her pre-installed functions, causing her to help people become more civilized and mentally healthier in some odd ways. Rather than be a savior, Chip only wants to be a good nanny and psychologist.

Okay, so this is a story about Lord English and The handmaid. I got this idea after watching a video Called 'Handmaid's Song' Made by 'DaniTheDoomMagnet' and decided to go with it. I probably won't update much but I hope you'll like it!

Sun comes through the fanlight, falling in colors across the floor: red and blue, purple my face, distant and white and distorted, framed in the hall mirror There's someone standing in the hall, near the door to the room where I stay this is a man, his back to me; he's looking into the room, dark against its light. he hears me coming, turns. heistantes. walks forwards. towards me. what do I do now? I stop, he pauses, I can't see- his face, he's looking at me, what does he want? it wouldn't do to stare. he steps to the side to avoid touching me I can see now, It's the commander, he isn't supposed to be here. But then he moves forward again, inclines his head, and is gone. something has been shown to me, like the flag of an unknown country.

What happens when four childhood friends go their own ways? Love and friendship will not help them when one of their is their enemy? Find out!! This is a short story and it my first own - so I really would like your opinions!!

Based of the book the handmaids tale but from a young girls point of view of living in gilead and the changes she must go through to survive in a place designed to oppress her.
