Yona was on the garrison before studying to become a doctor with Grisha Jaeger. She survived the desaster of Shiganshina and worked as a physician for the Scout Regiment. After the battle in the forest against the female titan, the number of scouts is lowered and Erwin Smith choose to hire Yona as a Squad Captain, considering her previous experience in the army. That rush decision is far from pleasing her but it allows her to keep her word. The story follows the storyline of the anime until about the thirtieth chapter, then the storyline is mine.
