Ben led a very boring life. No, really. He was a nerd. He loved his family; not that they spent so much time together. He went to school every day, he had a normal girlfriend, and he had normal friends. He kept up an A-average grade. And Ben would have stayed boring, for a very, very long time, if it wasn't for her. In a fit of drunken rage, a troubled, teenaged girl stole Ben from his world during one of the worst moments of his life, and hurt him. During the fight that resulted, he mistakenly cut himself on a shard of waste glass covered in odd-looking fluid. Once the mysterious substance had entered his body, he finally changed- not only mentally, but physically. He had turned into a bear and passed out, scaring the girl away just before he changed right back to normal, unconscious, and the police arrived. After that, though Ben had no memory of turning into the bear, he was different. He was more easily frightened, more antisocial, and suddenly he couldn't bear to be touched. Not by anybody. He watched, helpless, as this steadily crumbled to ruins every type of relationship he'd previously had. Now, he was alone, and he was different. But soon, Ben would realize how "different" oftentimes becomes the antithesis of "boring."

Fed up with her life and being constantly ridiculed by her family, she just wants to be alone. She just wants silence. Bare bones of a story I had planned, very incomplete My parents spent a lot of my childhood reassuring me I wasn't a monster. I don't know if I fully believed them. It was in how these people looked at me. How the newest ones gasped and stared at me with panic in their eyes. And, after all, how else could you explain all the bodies I left lying in my wake as I made my escape? I had hurt and killed and escaped. I had done everything my parents had told me would ruin me. They were wrong, because until now, I had had nothing. I was an animal in a cage. I hadn't been Cada. I had been specimen 0054. . I was a well-known thief. I was the youngest to have his own gambling house. I was also feared among the people who had heard stories about me. I hardly took notice anymore as people shuffled away to avoid being in my path. It was true that the fear had lessened within the past two years, but it was there. I had to make the occasional trip around town to remind people that the streets they walk through every day are more unsafe than they remember, because Haoun Kierue still walked through them.

Haphephobia is a rare but often devastating phobia. It's the fear of being touched. Imagine the second someone touches you without warning you immediately cringe and vigorously rub that area until you can no longer feel it. You just want to roll into a ball and cry. People see you as a psychopath, a freak because you are different. What they don't know is why you have this fear. How it had come on. That was something no one knew, you just wanted to forget. It's not easy and it never has been. How can someone fight a fear they've had for twenty years? You simply can't. Do not read if you're sensitive to the topics of abuse, rape, death, or self harm.

Word Count: 6256 After the death of his aunt and uncle, the last family he had, Peter Parker was left with nothing but his mind for company as he was thrown out into the rough streets of NYC to fend for himself. At least he had something to do all day to keep his mind off of his crippling self loathing, but now he was also being hunted by the Avengers, the most powerful people in probably the whole of America, who considered him a menace, a danger to the city. So much for saving people's lives and risking his own every day for over a year, he supposed. Oh well, at least he tried.
