The bells in the city temple had already rung twelve when the boy came into the world, and unlike every other newborn who greeted life with a cry, he did not. His eyes opened-calm, unblinking, almost ancient-and the midwives froze, whispering in fear that perhaps fate had tied something strange to this child.......
The first titan appeared at the edge of the city where the elder family lived. Towering, grotesque, its roar shook glass from windows. The streets erupted into chaos as people screamed and fled, scattering like ants before a storm.......
