She knows exactly when she turned into the amoeba she is now, but she can't understand why it happened. She used to be fun, sarcastic, smart, and full of life. Sure, she hid parts of herself that she didn't want anyone to see, but that's what most teenagers did. In an attempt to fix the problem, her father sends her to work at the family bookstore, located in the most remote and isolated place in the world. Now, she spends her days smiling at strangers, accompanied by an energetic little girl and a mysterious, smiling boy who shows up one day. When he starts reciting all the reasons why he doesn't believe she's broken, Alaska struggles to believe him. However, little by little, Alaska is forced to realize that sometimes people have beautiful things to say to her, and maybe, just maybe, she's not as broken as she thinks.
