"They aren't soulmates , they're vicebound."
In the shadowed peaks where storms carve the sky, two harpies were born of sin, Mamrith from Greed, Nora from Wrath.
Their hearts were never meant to meet, yet vice knows no law. Gold and flame entwined, they became lovers whose bond defies virtue and reason alike.
Where they fly, ruin follows, and in ruin, they find their heaven.
Neither goddess nor mortal could part them, for they were Vicebound, tethered by the vices that made them, sustained by the destruction they brought. Where they flew, kingdoms burned and treasures vanished into shadow.
Yet in every ruin, their silhouettes circled close, whispering devotion through the smoke.
When thunder rolls without rain and the air tastes of ash, the old ones still murmur: "The Vicebound soar again."
And all who hear it clutch their treasures close, and pray that wrath and greed do not fall upon them in love's name.
The folks pray, their chanter is audible, every moment they murmur their prayers once the Vicebound are on the hunt:
"Feather to ash, and gold to dust,
Wrath be silenced, Greed turn to rust.
Wings that circle, hearts that crave,
Pass us by, O lovers of the grave.
Vicebound fly, vicebound burn,
Take your eyes and never return.
Goldless hearts and quiet skies,
Let no harpy hear our cries."
An unbreakable promise to keep, they carved their vows:
"I crave what burns, and you burn for what I crave. Together, we are unstoppable."
"I would steal the world just to see you rage, and you would burn it all to keep me near."
"In your wrath, I am home, in my greed, you are mine."
