Sofia's family is powerful and rich and scary and high up.
But Sofia, Sofia Circe Norae Krauss was the kind of person who did not break the school rules. She would have been the kind of person that would have befriended Hermione Granger if they had not been in rival houses and Hermione Granger thought she was evil because of the house the old, battered sorting hat had selected her to spend her years in Hogwarts in, only because of the fact her family had been put in the house with the green and silver decorations for generations.
She was the kind of person who most people wanted to befriend if they had no prejudices against her house. Bright, smiley, kind with good morals were all the qualities any of her friends would tell you she prided herself in keeping. James Linton, her best friend of years, would tell you about her big heart and how she seemed to not judge anyone. Kyle Pommington, one of her closest confidant's, would tell you she knew how to reassure and fix any problem you came to her with. Katya Jenkins, her first Hogwarts friend, would tell you how she loved so strongly her heart made up most of her body. Even Hermione Granger might grudgingly admit, that the girl was kind and smart, with a career practically waiting for her the moment she decided to leave school. Maybe Harry Potter, would not protest if you complimented her.
Ron Weasley, however, would furrow his brow and ask 'who?' He wasn't observant, of course.
But fifth-year brings a new set of problems. It brings people closer and pushes people further. It shows how little the divides that ruptured friendships and caused a strain on relationships before, matter now. It shows how in the midst of the return of the dark times, the students will have to push aside all their previous beliefs and rely on one another more than ever before. To trust one another. And to love one another.
Even Ron Weasley and Sofia Krauss.
