We all know that Hermione went to Slughorn's party with Cormac McLaggen to make Ron jealous. But what if she didn't? What if she came to her senses in time and invited Harry instead? As friends of course.

Harry was done. The moment his name came out of the goblet, he knew he was done being passive. To let fate screw him over and over again. To let Dumbledore dictate his fate, to play as per Voldemort's plans, to dance in the hand of destiny. Fate wanted to kick him down? He'd kick back.

Harry and Hermione are neglected by their parents. They become friends before they start Hogwarts and they used their friendship, magic and intellect to propel themselves into making a mark in history. Minimal bashing. Potters live. Harry isn't the boy who lived.

With Harry going away for Auror training, he asks Hermione if she will look after Teddy for him. Though raising a baby together complicates their relationship in ways they hadn't been expecting.

This will be the chance to prove to her snooty cousins that she's more than just a bookworm. This story will be Harry x Hermione to switch it up a bit as all these stories that I've seen are Dramione.

Professor Potter and Professor Granger are best friends.
