This is the most vulnerable I'd ever seen him, and it scared me to be honest. Without a word I ran out the door as quickly as I could, not looking back. There was tears streaming down my face and my vision was blurry. Before I could even reach the sidewalk I felt an strong hand grab my arm, Zavin turned me towards him, lifting my chin, forcing me to look him in the eyes. "Please Emerson, I love you" his voice cracked even more now, every word making my heart break a little more. "And I hate you Zavin" I said looking him dead in the eyes. "I hate you for making me love you" I said starting to cry again, uncontrollably now. I felt his hand go limp and I took it as a chance to run, I took off. All I could hear was the sound of my old shoes against the concrete of the cracked sidewalk, and the sound of my salty tears hitting the hard ground. I looked back to see Zavin, just standing there in his front yard, looking as if he'd just seen a ghost, he didn't move or fuss, or even blink. He just stood there.
