Valea, a situationally mute girl, who lives in one of the dirtiest parts of Swantallis is ripped away from her loving family by the shady comissioners of the city. They want her to work as a maid for the wealthy Balckwood family who need especially someone like her - who does not speak - to take care of the grandmother of the house. Said grandmother has a difficult history of throwing her maids out due to her temper, so Valea is just another attempt to find the perfect caretaker for her. But then there is Eric, the youngest son of the house, who starts to despise her. Her inability to speak to him really gets on his nerves and once he sees how difficult it is for her to deal with situations that involve him, he starts to really torment her. But as he grows older, many dark secrets about his family are revealed to him, secrets he could never have imagined his perfect family could ever have. Now, driving himself into a deep depression, he finds that Valea is the only one who could listen to his secrets without telling anyone. How is their relationship going to progress and what will happen once he finds out that she actually does have a voice?
