Cliff Marlow and Hayden Pike have a night together. Ao3 is down and so I am having to write my on fanfic for the first time so sorry if it sucks.

The Routine: For the last two seasons, whenever Montreal is in Boston or Boston is in Montreal, Shane and Ilya meet in sketchy, obscure hotels or empty parking garages. It is fast, aggressive, and highly addictive. They tell themselves it's just tension relief, but they are both completely obsessed. The Pressure Cooker: The media is obsessed with the "Hollander vs. Rozanov" narrative. Every hit on the ice is clipped; every post-game press conference is a minefield. The stress of keeping their hooks-ups secret while being forced to be the public faces of a blood-feud is making Shane frayed, paranoid, and defensive. The Teammate Factor: Cliff is right there in the Boston locker room. He sees Ilya being a moody, distracted asshole after games against Montreal. More importantly, Cliff is openly attentive to Shane on the ice or during handshakes-maybe he's chirping Shane, but it's the kind of lingering, heavy-eyed look that makes Ilya's blood boil.

Ilya Rozanov has spent nine years pretending he doesn't love Shane Hollander. It took a hospital stay and a heavy dose of anesthesia for Shane to decide they were done pretending. Now, Ilya has to figure out if Shane meant what he said, or if his heart is about to be broken by a medical side effect.
