Nineteen-year-old Muichiro Tokito lives in the center of Tokyo with his beloved family. They moved in from a nearby village when he and his brother were ten. Suddenly, one day he gets an opportunity to take part in an exchange student program.
However, his brother is not a fan of the idea - but, he wants to try it out desperately.
Muichiro always lives outside the box, and as he gets older, his desire grows stronger. He wants to see the world - at least some part of it. He doesn't want to settle in Tokyo forever.
Through the program, his dreams may come true; he can live in San Francisco for one semester.
Even so, he got his scholarship from Astronomy; that's the main reason he goes there, and he waits with bated breath to explore a new place while working on projects.
Since they have to work in pairs, he gets paired with a girl named Hazel Winslow.
As time goes by, they grow accustomed to each other's company. So much so that, even though saying goodbye at the end of the semester promises to be painful, they still believe this is the best decision they can make.
One year passed by, and Muichiro slowly realizes that some parts still lingered there.
He starts to miss the town, the west coast, the stargazing, and... barely less likely to admit it, but he misses her, though.
He impulsively decides to go back to San Francisco.
However, things are not going according to his plans at all...
