Hazing Stories

This is a spin-off of my series Freshman Hell. In this story, the nerdy freshmen, Brayden and Aiden, tryout for the school's swim team. If we know anything about Parkview High, there will be no shortage of wedgies, bullying and hazing.

The elite students at North Vixon Academy high school are coming back for the fall semester ready to be where the were last semester. On top. However not everyone can make the cut. Will it be betrayal from the inside or are there newcomers ready to take NVA by surprise? One thing is for sure though. Once you're in doesn't mean you'll stay in.

''Mike,'' ''No, Harvey,'' Mike dissents. ''I mean it, I'm not shaken by it. It was nothing I hadn't dealt with before,'' He advocates. ''It was just them poking a bit of fun at me, it was harmless. Nothing compared to high school. I was a smart-mouthed, small for my age, genius, know it all, who had skipped a few grades then. It was way worse. I was fine, and I'm fine now," ''So that's just that? You get reminded of your little school escapade and now you're just all of a sudden done with this company, with this partnership?'' ''I'm sorry,'' Mike divulges, hoping to mitigate the situation. ''But you also know it's not like that,'' ''You're sorry, and you think that suffixes? Newsflash, you're sorry doesn't cut it, Mike. Not for this,'' ''I don't know what else you want me to say,'' ''I took a chance on you! I've risked everything for you just for the sake of employing you, I've put so much on the line. My career and more. And you repay me by lying to me?'' A semblance of regret hangs heavy in the air because he'd be damned if that wasn't actual tears building in the kid's eyes, but as quick as they developed, they were blinked away and the hardened look to his face shifts into place. ''Looks like I was nothing but a waste of your time then, wasn't I?'' ''Mike..'' Harvey said slowly, the single word laced with a quiet, seething fury. ''I'm fairwarning you now If you walk out that door don't you bother ever coming back,''

14 year old Braydon Mathews trys to survive the first week of highschool, at Parkview High. Its a school with a tradition big on rooking (hazing) the new freshman. Along with his new friends Aiden and Owen, find themselves to be favorite targets for the schools biggest bully, Troy. Dispite non stop wedgies, swirly, being locked in lockers, being stuffed in trash cans, and more, Brayden just keeps trying to survive the week with a little dignity left.

~ COMPLETE ~ The #PlanetOrPlastic writing contest (by @NationalGeographic) inspired me because the topic is so important to me, to all of us I hope. I know the deadline's past. I know my story's over 500 words. But I still wanted to share it. I think it's always nice to read and react. Particularly on a subject like this one. So here you go.
