Summer has a way of making everything feel possible. Warm days stretch a little longer, conversations become a little more honest, and sometimes the person you never expected finds their way into your life. Noah Fletcher is in the Philippines for tennis. Jayrrom Flores is sixteen, still carrying the name Jade quietly inside her and figuring out what it means to become the girl she has always known herself to be. They are only supposed to have six weeks. But somewhere between tennis courts, late-night messages, stolen glances, and all the things neither of them knows how to say, Noah becomes part of Jayrrom's summer in ways neither of them expected. How do you start over when the only life you wanted is isn't yours? What if the only life you dreamed of was the only life you ever got to have with her? Heaven knows how we started. She was never supposed to be part of my life. It began with a girl on a bridge. A simple conversation. Two strangers who happened to live next door. She was healing from a heartbreak. I was just there. A friendship that turned into something more. Late-night talks. Random dates. Little fights. Countless moments. Moments that made me believe I finally found my person. For a while, it was perfect. Or at least, it felt like it. Until one day, I woke up. Years had passed. And she was gone. People looked at me like I was crazy. They kept asking if I was okay. And when I asked about her... no one answered. Not my mom. Not our friends. They knew who I was looking for. They knew her name, but they stayed quiet. Because they didn't want to hurt me again. But I remember her. I remember her voice. Her smile. The way she held my hand. I remember we had a daughter who looks like her. I remember everything. So why does everyone act like none of it ever happened? Maybe Heaven knows the answer. I just wish I did. Maybe Heaven knows it was all a dream. But my heart doesn't. And even if it wasn't real... Amidst a family of rules, a wonderful best friend, and a town where most of the residents have a story to tell, a series of strange text messages doesn't seem like anything too extravagant. Then again... Maybe its just what my life needed.
