"I want to hold on to you and not let go." His voice cracked on the last word. "That's what's wrong with me. You are what's wrong with me. You've been walking around being completely, catastrophically you and I have been losing my mind about it since the first week of first year and I can't -" He exhaled. "I can't do this anymore. I can't keep pretending I don't -" "Stop." Her voice was very quiet now. He stopped. She wasn't looking at him. Something about the way she was standing, the set of her shoulders, the specific stillness of her, made something cold settle in his chest. "Mila." "It doesn't matter," she said. "What?" She turned around. Her eyes were dry. Her jaw was set. She looked like someone who had made a decision so painful that the only way to survive making it was to feel nothing at all while it was happening. "I'm leaving," she said. "The job offer. I accepted it." The cold in his chest spread. "The one in -" "Yes." "When." "Three days." Three days. He stood there with three days sitting in the space between them like a wall that had just appeared from nowhere, solid, immovable, built from everything she'd worked for since before he'd ever known her name. "Mila -" "This -" she gestured between them, at the wreckage of the last twenty minutes, at four years of everything. "None of this changes that. I worked for this. I've been working for this my whole life and I can't -" Her voice caught. Just once. She steadied it immediately. "I can't give that up. For a feeling I don't even have a name for yet." He looked at her for a long moment. Then he did something he had never done. Not once. Not in years of being the most composed person in every room he'd ever walked into. He dropped to his knees, holding onto the fabric of her dress. Not dramatically. Not performed. Just, down. Like the weight of it finally exceeded what his legs could carry. "Don't do this to me, Cariño."

Two years apart. One lie between them. Now she's in Prague-sleeping in the bed he chose, breathing air he owns, walking streets he controls. "You're mine, meri chhoti shayara," he murmurs, fingers already sliding under her skirt, "and I'm going to make you remember... right here, against this wall, how you used to beg for me." And when she finally breaks on his hand, gasping his name- He smiles. Because she never stopped being his.

    ||SAMPLE CHAPTERS|| she was already getting off the bed, walking toward him slowly, deliberately and Kabir... took a step back. Her gaze dropped once more, following that torturous slow trail of water that slid down his V line and disappeared beneath the towel tied at his waist. Kabir followed her gaze instinctively which only made it worse. Meher stepped closer. "Do you know," she said softly, tilting her head, "in the morning, testosterone levels in males are highest." Kabir's jaw tightened slightly. He was too shocked to even react. She took another step closer seeing his shocked expression and added casually as a matter of fact. "Basic biology, Anpadh kumar..." She was still speaking when suddenly... Kabir moved fast. His hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her toward him in one swift motion. A soft gasp left her lips as her back hit the wall behind her. Now their positions were reversed completely. Kabir stood in front of her. Close. Too close and for the first time... Her breath hitched. Kabir leaned in slightly, his body pressing just enough to make her aware of him in a way she had not expected. Her lips parted in a silent gasp and Kabir noticed. Of course he did. A faint victorious smirk appeared on his lips after seeing her expression finally changing a little. Now he was enjoying this. "You have studied a lot... theoretically," he murmured, leaning closer, his voice low near her ear. "Let's add some practical knowledge to it." A shiver ran through her instantly when his hot breath and a cold drop of water hit her skin together. Her fingers curled slightly against his chest around the gold chain hanging around his neck, her breath uneven now. His hands rested on her hips, firm, steady, not moving but enough to make her feel everything. Kabir's lips brushed near her ear, his breath warm against her skin. "Let me show you," he continued huskily, "how high my testosterone is right now."
